A real browser
Chromium opens the page with a phone profile, loads it, waits for it to settle, scrolls it to the bottom and then observes it, three times, and keeps the median.
The audit
Grammage opens your site the way a visitor would, then gives it a score out of 100, compared with the sites of its category. Above all it ranks what needs fixing, starting with what weighs most on the footprint, and this full audit runs without installing anything, from the free trial or through the API.

What Grammage analyses
The score out of 100 is built from five parts, and whatever is not part of the score still appears in the report, because it helps to understand where the energy goes.
Chromium opens the page with a phone profile, loads it, waits for it to settle, scrolls it to the bottom and then observes it, three times, and keeps the median.
Compression, caching, HTTP/2, redirects, errors, domains, images in WebP or AVIF, at the right size and loaded on demand, WOFF2 fonts, no autoplay and no endless animation, drawn from the RWEB and RGESN frameworks.
Read through its sitemap, three pages per template and fifty at most, for a result that weighs each page by the share of the site it represents.
Grams of CO₂ per visit according to Sustainable Web Design and the electricity of your audience’s country, with their ADEME equivalent.
The JavaScript that is downloaded and never run, and the CSS that no element uses, file by file.
In your CI/CD, Grammage also analyses the code, to spot what makes the site heavier before it is even online.

CI/CD integration
Grammage takes its place in your pipeline as one more job, which runs on every merge request and puts its report in the request itself, without anyone having to think about it.
Grammage measures the preview of the request and publishes its report right inside it, so that everyone sees what the change costs before approving it.
You set the minimum grade, for example C, and a request that would bring the score below it does not go to production.
After the deployment, Grammage measures the public address and signs its report, which keeps your badge alive.

The attestation
The production report is signed, then Solyzon measures the same pages again to confirm its figures. Your badge then checks that signature in each visitor’s browser before it appears, and it does not appear at all if anything is wrong.
It also never says anything about your whole site from a single page, as European directive 2024/825 on environmental claims requires, and it speaks seven languages.
Pricing
The audit runs on your machines and in your CI, so it costs us nothing and we put no limit on it. What really goes through our servers is the attestation, and that is what sets the price. Your licence also lasts as long as your subscription, with all updates included.

Frequently asked questions
A question that is not on the list? Start the free trial, the report often answers it by itself.
No. The free trial and the API run a full audit of your site, with its score and the list of what to fix, without installing anything. The CI then adds the audit on every deployment, the threshold that blocks a request that is too heavy and the attestation of production.
Grammage provides a job template for GitLab CI, which you include in your .gitlab-ci.yml in a few lines, and which audits the preview of every merge request.
The score out of 100 is built from five parts, weight and good practices for 30 points each, requests and the DOM for 15, and hosting for 10. Weight, requests and the DOM are compared with real pages of the Web, which the Web Almanac measures every year.
No. The CI report is signed, then Solyzon measures the same pages again, and the attestation is only issued if its figures stay close to those of the report. The badge then checks the signature and the expiry date in the browser, and it does not appear if anything is wrong.
No, the API analyses a page or the whole site. The source code is analysed by the CI/CD job, directly in your repository.
It reads its sitemap or follows its links, groups the pages by template and measures each one as a separate page, then draws a result for the site. The detail is on the method page.
No. You test a page of your choice without paying anything, and you then decide, from the result, whether a plan interests you.
Grammage brings together in a single tool the audit in a real browser, the code analysis in the CI/CD and a signed result that anyone can verify.
